Logging selection.. 1 Year, 6 Months ago
Hi there

Firstly thanks for the contrib - it looks ot be all I have been looking for.

Everything is installed ok however when checking out it does not remember the product choice and ignores the attribute - i assume that I have done something incorrectly here.

Any isggestions as to what I should look for?

Thanks a lot

Hi

Thanks for your enquiry.

I'm presuming that when adding the product to the cart, the attributes are also not showing in the shopping cart page?

A quick test to see if you've set up your product attributes correctly is this:

1) Select the product in PAPs admin

2) Set 'Ignore Product Attributes:' to 'No'

3) Under the section where the uploaded images are listed, set 'Display Attribute Prices:' to 'Yes' - just for now

4) If you see a message in the newly created 'Attribute Price' column seying something like 'Not Set' in red letters, then you haven't set up the attributes for the product yet.

To do this, go to 'Products Attributes' in admin (its called 'Attributes Controller' in Zen Cart) and link the attribute and all its corresponding attribute options to the product. Even if the attribute option doesn't effect the price of the product you should still enter + or - 0.00 as the attribute price differential.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need any further help.

Regards

Hi Nick

Thanks for the speedy response.

Firstly - I do not have an option to show the attribute price. Perhaps this is for the non freeware version?

Secondly, I have not set up an attribute specifically for the images under the default OSS attribute section - perhaps this is the reason?

for example - in my store I have several hundred fabric choices. I have called the attribute name as "fabric choices" within pap and I have uploaded a load of images into the pap directory that I created following the instructions. Each fabric choice is called a number like 45678 - so do I now need to go into the default OSC section, add an attribute called "fabric choices" and assign all the hundreds of fabric choices to each product?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Olly

The option to show Attribute Price only appears after you've set 'Ignore Product Attributes' to 'No'.

PAPs has always been meant as an addition to - not replacement for - any default osCommerce functionality. So yes, you need to set up all product attributes for the product before uploading attribute related images with PAPs.

I understand you have a lot of attributes to set up for a lot of products. People often use a contribution such as Easy Populate to help them achieve this . You can find it here: www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,500

Thanks again -

I have it already set as no but I still see no mention of price! Sorry if I am being stupid - I am sure it is simple!

To confirm, I have added the product option "fabric choices" to match the attribute name and I have added the option value of 12345 to match the attribute value. I have then assigned the attribute to the product. This now results in a drop down box appearing on my product_info page contaning the 12345.

How do I get rid of this to replace it with the images of 12345 that appears beneath it?

Thanks a lot for your time and trouble.

Hi

I suggest you delete all your uploaded PAPs files for the product and start again now that you've set up the attribute options correctly. This time, when you go to upload the PAPs images, you will see a new dropdown refering to 'native' attributes that are available. Select the one you already set up and then the upload dialogue will appear with the names of all the attribute options you've already set up prepopulating the upload boxes. After upload, set 'Ignore Product Attributes' to 'No' then select 'Allow Attribute Selection' to 'Yes'. The 'Allow Attribute Selection' setting is only available once you set 'Ignore Product Attributes' to 'No' - and then it will appear further down the page near the thumbnail width size settings etc.

You'll find further help on this in the User Guide which is included in the distribution.
